Kokopelli is Growing!

We are excited to announce that Kokopelli's choir family is getting bigger again in 2012-2013!

We are now accepting registrations for our brand new primary choir, for singers in kindergarten through grade three (about ages 5 to 8). 'Tamariki' (pronounced tah-mah-REE-kee) is a Maori word meaning 'children' and adds to our tradition of having choir names collected from continents around the world, reflecting Canada's ever more multicultural society and our own mandate in making global connections by singing music from other cultures.

This new group will meet weekly for fun-packed music-filled forty-five minute rehearsals, Tuesdays 5:00 - 5:45 p.m. at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (11223 51 Ave. - to be confirmed!)

The group will be under the direction of Kikimasu's awesome conductor Carmen So, who is a music education specialist with Edmonton Public Schools. Ms. So will be joined at the podium by Rachel Beach, long-time Kokopelli Choirs member (first in Kokopelli and now in Òran) and Kikimasu assistant. Ms. Beach has recently completed her education studies and will be teaching in the Edmonton area next year. She brings a long association with choral music and music education to her new role as conductor, as well as a love for kids and the Kokopelli spirit.

Fees have yet to be set and approved by our board of directors, but will be announced on our site in the next month or two.

The choir will participate in two to three concerts during the Kokopelli season, including at least one of our major season concerts, as well as smaller performances that will focus on the work and accomplishments of these young singers. As with all our Kokopelli ensembles, the focus is on creating a supportive and fun environment for quality music education. Introduce your child to the wide world of choral music and movement!

Pre-registrations will be available soon on the Kokopelli website - check back early next week for more information, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for details.
